What writing is needed for a journal?

When it comes to creating a journal, are there rules?

What content/writing do I have to create?

This is a common question I receive and an excellent one. My answer is...it is 100% up to you BUT it needs to be aligned to your business. This is something I chat with when clients come to me so we can figure this out together.

Let me give you a few examples...

1. Let's say you have clients journal during session or ask them to reflect outside of session.  You may have a typical set of questions you use or it might vary pending the client. So your journal can either contain these questions (many ways to do this) or we can do a blank lined one so you have flexibility but is still beautiful to write on and with your branding.

2. Your prompts would only make sense with some info.  Amazing. This means you would share some education first followed by the relevant prompts.  I recently did a journal for a client for the 7 female archetypes.  Each archetype had 2-3 paragraphs of information on a page explaining the characteristics followed by the prompts for that archetype.

3. Your journal can be a "Rinse and Repeat." These are typically the same prompts to use daily or weekly or a combination.  Here is an example, my "Reflections from My Daily Practice '' journal sets the stage for the week, followed by a daily page of reflection/gratitude and ending the week with overall reflection.  This repeats for 3 months of time (3 months was a choice not set in stone).  A yoga therapist I know encourages her clients to purchase my journal so they can track and see their progress to get out of back pain. This type of journal works well for a variety of businesses.

There are many more possibilities, and I will continue to share.  If you have a specific question please feel free to email me at jen@jencolombo.com and I will answer in a future blog or social media post.
