Jennifer Faye Colombo | Artist

I’m Jennifer Faye Colombo, a watercolor artist living in Norwalk, CT. While I could rattle off the “right” things—the degrees, the jobs, the technical stuff—I’d rather share why I love watercolor so much. It’s a love affair with spontaneity, where every brushstroke is a chance to be surprised. I let the colors flow, embrace the mess, and dance with the serendipity of each stroke. My art is about finding joy in the unexpected, capturing moments when the paint takes on a life of its own. It’s not about perfection; it’s about embracing the beauty of the process.

In addition, as a lover of all things personal growth, I create journals and card decks with my artwork to add beauty and elevate those transformational tools.

If you want to dive deeper into my watercolor journey, just keep reading below—it’s a story you won’t want to miss.

The Love Affair

The Love Affair began 25 years ago.

I still remember the moment like it was yesterday.

I was sitting in my Advanced Drawing & Painting class, senior year of high school. We had just begun to learn pro watercolors.

Our first assignment was to copy a master watercolorist to get a feel for the medium. It was a great experience but very structured.

Our second assignment was a ‘choose your own adventure’. I decided to paint a flower, an Iris.

I started with the background and added water to my paper with my paints ready to go.

Then I proceeded to add paint to the paper.

I watched as the pigment danced in the water…

Pure flow…

Pure MAGIC.

True wonder and awe like a child's curiosity or surprise when opening a gift.

I can still tap into that feeling today. And mmmmm it is so delicious.

Although my path took many turns along the way, I never forgot that day. For years watercolor took a backseat to many other things and career paths but always remained in my heart.

Then one day I got the nudge to start painting again.

My Love was Rekindled and watercolor will now be with me forever. As soon as I picked up that  brush it was like no time had passed.

It is my greatest joy to create with watercolors.

To dance with the paint and the water in harmony. Sometimes I take the lead, sometimes the medium takes the lead. It is a beautiful dance and co-creation. Pure bliss and magic.

To be a conduit for the energy that is present in every creative session. To be in pure dive creative flow is truly one of my greatest joys and how I share my heart and soul..

And yes, I still have that watercolor Iris. It is a reminder to be present to the Magic of Creativity.

My intention is to share the magic with you. To bring calm to your space. To bring in joy. And ultimately, my hope is that my work reminds you to pause, get present, take time for yourself and remember all the abundance that surrounds you every day.
